I'm a Counsellor Psychotherapist but I also love training so my business name does exactly what it says on the tin: Therapy And Training! I am currently in the process of rebranding though so watch this space!
Stay true to yourself and don't compromise on your "Why". I know why I do this work and I am sometimes asked to step outside of this and do something that might not quite fit in with my ethics or values or might risk a breach of boundaries or feel disempowering so I continue to work hard on staying true to my brand and my "why" and a side-effect of this is that I have learned how to say "no" and not get sucked in to the impossible task of trying to be all things to all people.
It's a very obvious one but - Write a list and Prioritise!
I practice what I preach! I try to talk kindly to myself and acknowledge but don't act on the advice of my inner critic, I journal, I use my supports, take regular breaks, go to therapy every now and again and I also avail of mentors and their guidance
Good enough is Good enough when it comes to parenting. Similarly, to prevent procrastination, it can be helpful to focus on Progression not Perfection!
When I facilitated an online event at the height of lockdown with nearly 900 attendees!
When I fell in the door and down the step of a training room with 35 attendees sitting there waiting for me!
Step up and go for it much sooner - Believe in your value!
Need to think about this one..
Because I have recently realised that some things that I know and talk about every day aren't so obvious to those that aren't in the therapy world and working in the area of Corporate Training helps me to facilitate and empower people that might never come to therapy.
Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Counselling Supervisor, Lecturer, Group Facilitator, working with Couples, Individuals and Groups for over 20 years including Long-term unemployed, homeless pregnant women, traveller women, employees facing redundancy, trainee counsellors etc.
To teach my kids as much as I can of what I have learned/am learning in life and to make a difference to those attending my training, inspiring them by normalising uncomfortable emotions and encouraging them to reach out and use their supports. I would like to think and hope that my talks on Suicide Awareness might just make a little difference to some.
I am me! I don't try to be anything different. I have 20+ years of evidence based training and experience to draw from. I know how to bring the best out in people and I do it in a relaxed and informal non-intimidating way.
Self-Awareness and Mental Health: Changing the Confusing message that's out there on social media and inspiring people to be as kind to themselves as they are to others.
Go to therapy and get to know yourself better first!
I speak French and love everything to do with France including it's wine!
I have 4 kids who I could not be more proud of especially all they have come through in these challenging times.
I'm from Dublin and live in Navan but I'm still a blow in because I've only been living here for 15 years!
A weekend away, anywhere!
